Code Breakers

Code Breakers tells the hidden story of two secret Australian cryptography groups during World War II who deciphered Japanese military codes and helped shape key Allied victories like Midway and the Coral Sea. Made up of brilliant but often eccentric individuals, these codebreakers not only battled enemy encryption but also each other through rivalry, mistrust, and competition for recognition. The book also highlights a power struggle between Australian cryptographers in Melbourne and General MacArthur’s intelligence unit in Brisbane—conflicts that influenced the future of intelligence operations long after the war ended.
